In July 2018, 14 members of The Hills Singers and their Musical Director Carol Green went on tour to Mariánské Lázně, a town in the Czech Republic twinned with Malvern. Like Malvern this is a spa town and The Singers are performing at the town’s summer festival. They took programmes of British music with them, presenting works by composers ranging from William Byrd to the Beatles. Our very own Edward Elgar features and a number of part songs of his will be included in their concerts. The performances in Mariánské Lázně were as varied as the music. The Singers gave two full length evening concerts entitled A Celebration of British Music and Songs of Nature in addition to two outdoor performances of lighter music in The Colonnades; they also sang Monteverdi’s Mass for Four Voices in the Sunday service in the cathedral.
